I have heard that there may well be cheap/er flights to/from the Canaries (particularly, Fuerteventura), from Scotlands Airports starting reasonably soon, costing in the region of £40 o.w. Is there any truth in this?

Flights to the canaries will not happen from Scottish airports with Ryanair for a while yet. Long stage length. Try instead:
