Why is it that vampires usually go for the throat region of people? Sure its probably the easiest place to get most blood from but wat other possible reasons could there be?

You should start reading some books about Vampires. You would find that the throat is actually one of the last sites they visit!

Well, your own reason about being the more direct access to the heaviest blood flow is a good starting point. Until the last few decades, vampires were typically cast in fiction as inherently evil characters, ranging from mindless monsters to intelligent and eloquent adversaries. The reason the neck was most commonly chosen is because people have an inherent feeling of vulnerability there, they fear it more than being bitten in other places. The neck and face are places we will naturally and instinctively defend first. More modern fiction has branched out a lot, and as vampires are being portrayed more and more as characters to be empathized with, the neck is less often their target.

That only happens in the movies. Vampires go for any area of the body where they can get access to their blood. The problem with people That make up so many things, That you really have to make a trip to your local public library in order to read about the real legend of vampires. Also the cross is another totally made up thing that is suppose to effect an vampire. Well, what can I say other then reading can save a mind as well as your life.

imidragon has a point in most vampire books the throat is the last place they go for but for the ones that do go for the throat first its the thrill of cutting the jugular vein which gives the vampire power over your life . when a vampire bits your neck he/she has 2 choices your demise or the gift of eternal life(which comes at a huge price)

The carotid artery is a direct pipeline from the heart to the head, and is probably the most accessible, and carries the highest volume of blood.

Since Vampires only exist in fictional environments like Anne Rice novels, it is likely that culturally we all "agree" that the neck is the spot they go for.

Vampire bats tend to attack cattle, and they tend to go for the ankles instead of the necks.

In Anne Rice's Vampire chronicles, Vampires have been known to drink from just about any source of blood that presents itself, if you take my meaning...

That's just the way it was told in the more popular fiction books and the idea stuck. It is partially because it is commonly understood that there are very large and relatively accessible veins and arteries in the neck area. The other, and primary, reason is the sexual element to it. Early writers wanted to hype the psycho-sexual aspects of vampirism, and oral stimulation of the neck area is very erotic. Hence the terms 'necking' and giving each other hickeys, etc.

The thought behind this was movie buffs ands makers is that the blood in the juggler vein flows the fastest to the surfice but even when puncured flowes fastest through the body Thus feeding the Vam while spreading their condition to the body of the victim so as they will also turn into a vamp.

The next area in folklore is also connected to the truth of the vanmpire. The legend was established about a ruler name vlad the inpaler who use to torcher is victims and enemys but cutting of their heads and sticking them on stickss to warn his other enimies. he would also cut their throats and watch them slowly bleed to death.
so their is a little truth to fiction.

Going for the neck may add a little bit of a sexual theme in the movie world. Also, it is easier to get to than say a leg or arm. The neck is almost never covered by clothing, which again is easy access.

It alowes for the most comfortable position: upright. It is the place of one of the most important arteries: the jugular. It make the victim less likely to atack them selves in that position. Vampires are erotic creatures. For them it`s like kissing a lover on the neck. Only harder!

lol okay for Hollywood's sake it was most dramatic...and most of the time, a vampire seduces his victim its not like yaghhhhh I'm gonna bite you.......think bout it if I'm going to kill you, I'm going to make you comfortable, and what is an arousal point the neck, I'mage this im nuzzling your neck, kissing it and then i prick the skin, the fount of blood is so quick you pass out in seconds...if you were to be a meal so to speak for a couple of vampires then the main vein in your leg is an ideal spot, and then they would want u screaming and blood pumping...to drain you faster....
