Honestly I would say about a two weeks. BUT no doctor will give you a blood test to determine if you're pregnant or not until about the time of your period. Some pregnancy tests that use urine say they can tell you up to 5 days before your missed period, you can bet a blood test will be able to too. BUT the over the counter urine tests do NOT work for everyone, I took one two days before my period, because I felt queasy, (and was TRYING to get pregnant) and it showed negative, two days later (the day my period was supposed to come) I retook the test and it came out positive (2 years later I'm running around after the little booger). In all honesty there is no reason why you can't wait the two weeks after conception (4 weeks after your period) to use an over the counter test. Although I know when you ARE waiting to see if you're pregnant everyday is excrutiating! (whether you want to be pregnant or NOT)

It takes at least 7 to 10 days after fertilization for the test to become positive. In most cases, by the time a woman has missed her period, the test will be positive if she is pregnant.
