.....can get atleast £30,000 a week to live on? Yet on average a common person in the U.K. gets £15,000 a year in the U.K. I like playing football, but don't like watching it for 1hour plus, I prefer to watch the summary. Should WE not oppose this? I mean the amount of money they receive????? Or do we love such a game and don't care what they earn, as long as they entertain us.

I completely agree with you. I will not go and watch a game unless my son wants me to take him to a local match. The money that hard working people spend on match tickets, kits and other merchandise goes straight into players wages. Yet people are happy to pay anything up to £60-70 to watch a Premiership match (not mentioning any team names, but I'm sure you can guess).

You are right, if people stopped paying £40-50 for a replica kit; stopped paying however many hundreds of pounds to watch Premiership teams, the clubs would be forced to at least bring the cost of such things down.

It'll never happen though....

It`s up to the Fan`s if they want to buy Football Shirt`s etc. If people do not agree with what Footballer`s get paid, the best thing for them to do is stay away from the Football games, that way they are not putting any money toward the Football Players wages. But there are many thousands of people that love to go and watch their Club`s play Football. I can not see many people opposing it.

It's the same way here in the United States. They get paid outrageous sums of money. But, the American public loves football, and they don't care how much the players make. Our football is different from yours.

It is a very popular form of entertainment here, and alot of merchandise is sold pertaining to their favorite team.

As long as fans support the teams, it's here to stay, and that looks like a very long time.

I am a football fan, but I watch it on TV from my home.

Because these people need something to belong to. It's a tribal instinct that is still very strong in some people. This instinct is exploited by big business all the time. If it isn't football, it's religion, a political movement or party, having the latest phone, having an Ipod... etc.

Humans evolved as pack animals, so that trait still manifests today but just in a modern environment. I'd say that even the most independantly minded of us are to some extent controlled by this instinctive need to belong.

Yes, these payers are overpaid etc etc,
Blame Jimmy Hill (And if you dont know why, DONT COMMENT!)

But being at a match is Far better than the TV, Just like being at a concert is better, Just is...

If you dont mind paying the money to watch fine, But its up to the individual NOT to fall into THE MARKETING TRAP.

But dont forget MOST money comes from TV and European Competition.
