do you ever overcome those first impressions?

Well a first impression is just that. It's the first indication of how you feel about someone. A second impression can either verify the first one, or it could be completely different than how you felt the first time. None of us make a good impression 100 % of the time, so if you catch someone on a bad day, your first impression could be incorrect. Just follow the simple rule of thumb.....treat others the way you want to be treated, and try to find some good in everyone!

I "wait and see" generally. It takes time to really know someone. There are exceptions. A couple of people were so obviously obnoxious that I hated them immediately. I recall visiting my oldest sister in the Houston area. She went out, and her 2nd husband was passed out from drinking. A man knocked on the door and asked for my brother-in-law. Something about him made me feel like stomping him. My sister said the man is hateful. I am a good judge of people. If I have a first impression, it's always correct.

Liking a person, yes it could happen instantly , even the first impression, because some people retain a child-like innocent expressive honest face, that could appeal to most people, and such people are liked almost instantly.
Dislike, usually takes time, unless it is between two people both of them , incidentally happening to be very stiff faced !

I wish... I usually have to be burned a couple of times before I realize a person is a complete Jerk. I usually give people the benefit of the doubt when I first meet them...

My husband, on the other hand, dislikes MOST people when he first meets them!

i think alot of the time you make quick judgements, that are later dismissed when you get to know the person, so yes i think you do overcome first impressions it might take a little longer if the first impression isnt the best one.

We always like or dislike people at first, but that's not the final conclusion so you should WAIT and ignore those first impressions. If they are RIGHT they will be PROVEN and you're sure.

I usually like people... give them the benefit of the doubt... But, i noticed, the more older I get, it gets harder to make new friends... It's not hard meeting people, but just making friends out of them...
I like people in general, people are the most interesting thing in the world, and communicating with them is the greatest fun... you never know what you can hear or learn, you cannot expect anything...

Depends. I go by vibes a lot, or intuition. I try not to judge a book by its cover, because I have been wrong, as people usually are when they judge on the basis of cars or clothing, or general appearance. And I assess people myself, and don't believe what someone tells me about a person before I see for myself.

I really don't like first impressions. Sometimes people are shy, and you have to get to know them. People who seem like they have it all together, often do not.

FIrst impressions are easy for me to get over - people always put their best foot forward. Relationships are moving pictures - impressions
are just snapshots.
