It depicts married women. A tilak or bindi is auspicious.
Many Indians apply the tilak or the bindi on the forehead, especially married women and even some men after their bath or their daily pooja (worship).
As per the chakra system, Aajna Chakra or the third eye chakra lies at the junction of the eyebrows, the place where this tilak is applied. While in meditation this is the area where one is asked to concentrate and rivet one’s attention to.
A tilak applied on this area is meant to invoke religious feelings and emotions of deep concentration and focus. This is recognized as a religious mark and there are tilaks of sandalwood, sindoor or turmeric generally applied during different religious and social occasions.
The custom has evolved now and both married and unmarried girls wear bindi more as a fashion statement than for any pious reasons!

It is a symbol for married women in Indian Hindu System. It acts as a warning for other males about her status. Teasing a married woman is highly intolerable. The partition of hair into two halves at the forehead of a lady resembles the "yoni" (Vagina) and the thilak is the indication that her vagina is penetrated.
In simple words, as per Hindu system, her vagina is bled.

Tilak is used only by Vaishnava women and men. It is a religious symbol. It is a U shaped mark, with a diamond shape on the top of the nose, made from white clay.
Are you referring to the red dot (kumkum) on some women's foreheads? That shows they are married.

The thilak, being in red colour, attracts the insects coming towards the face. Thus avoiding them hitting the eyes.

it is a kind of male savanism. women can
control anger, disire,and they'll have politeness.they should
always feel that they are married.so they are keeping it in that
particular point.middle of eyebrows, that point is good for
concentrate in meditation.they'll get good knowledge.bindi
is a kind of obstacle to gain that concentration.its limitans the
power.so they used to tell to unbrave men "keep bindi".
still in our part we r using this words to refer unbrave men.
