I am an adult. I am a parent. I have to agree with you. Not all teens understand the concept of love. but some do. the problem is that most teens think lust is love. But for some teens who can see past the sexual overtones and see the other person has a human capable of love and understanding. I t is very possible to to experience true love even while in your teen years..

I think that there are teens that are immature, as well as adults. There are teens that fall for external beauty, and adults who do the same. Truth is, when people talk of teenagers, they're categorizing a group of people of six different ages, and each person has their own pace of maturing, so it's not fair to clump them all into a group that cannot experience true love--especially since it's such a grey line between childhood and adulthood. However, because it's such a grey line, people use the term 'like a teenager' to insult adults, since they feel it's a step back in aging, or maturing, while it might be a compliment to older children, since it makes them feel they've made a step forward in maturity. Of course, some people were so backwards in their teenage years, they consider them a step backward in maturity for anyone, including growing children.
It all depends on how you feel you were like in your teenage years, or yourself and the rest of your peers at the time, and if aging=maturity (which usually is the case, since the more time you have to think, the more likely you have thought things out).

Your question is like the comparison of apples to oranges. Sure there are some mature teens out there but that shouldn't rule out the idea that young people in the most general majority of cases need to be careful about who the fall for. Parents, guardians, ect don't have the time in many cases to sift through who are the mature teens and whom aren't. Teens themselves usually have that free time to really know their peers better than adults do but adults make the rules because teens usually aren't the ones held accountable for the mistakes they can make.

Some teens are but I would agree that the majority of teens do not have enough experience to judge real love. Similarly, although some adults will not understand or feel love and many will make judgements about someone's outside many are more able to judge their affections and love due to having more experience.

This is true. Some teens experience true love and see inner beauty and the adults that can't usually did at some point and are emotionally scarred because of it.

I'm sure teens are capable of TRUE LOVE, I'm sure most of us remember our first loves as teenagers, and the heart breaks associated with them... I think teens are just less capable of seeing the bigger picture and being prepared for the consequences of their actions...when we are young we look at love as a fairy tale, but as we grow we also look at love more realistically. So while I have no doubt you or any young person can experience true love, remember, there is MUCH MORE to life, and it would suck if you made a decision that would prevent you from living your life to the fullest as you mature into adulthood.

im with you......true love can be experienced by anyone any age.......there are some teens that i have met that would put some of my friends to shame as far as maturity goes....and then i have seen the other end of the spectrum.....everyone is an individual and should not be pigeon holed based on age, race or religion.....
