Ive been told that acupuncture can work for IBS sufferers, at the moment im just house bound and going up the wall, ive had enough.!
Have you had acupuncture, does it work? Is there some that work and others that dont? How many sessions will it take?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

You may also consider hypnotherapy.Considerable work on its use with IBS has been carried at Whittington Hospital in Manchester, this link takes you to an article on it. http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/medicalnews.php?newsid=31216

As part of hypnotherapy treatment you should expect to be taught self-hypnosis to help with symptoms when they appear or prior to sitauations when you would normally expect them.

Above all else though, ensure that you have a medical diagnosis of IBS before seeking help through other means, there are other disorders that can show similar symptoms to IBS.

Depending on what's causing your IBS (there are so many different reasons for everyone) mine just suddenly became normal while getting treated for Interstitial Cystitis. I don't have the internal bladder issues but , like IBS, IC just means there's something wrong with the whole urination system--another catch-all for doctors too lazy or ignorant to treat it. My problem was in my pelvic floor. Apparently it was all cramping up and pinching the bladder nerves. Once I started getting that massaged away, the IBS is suddenly gone too.

One thing that does help with IBS is Reflexology as I am a reflexologist I know this from working with a lot of people suffering with this unpleasant problem. It normally takes about 6 treatments to shoe any sign of improvement but when it does stick with it as you will find that you will feel a lot better in yourself as well.

Don't know about acupuncture, but I have 'cured' a significant number of people with chronic diarrhea and bellyaches with Enzymatic Therapy's Peppermint Plus tablets and probiotics.
See also Elizabeth Lipski's Digestive Wellness for lots of good info and advice for problems with the GI tract.
Good luck!
