there was this one place in Seattle ,really nice -right next to that place where they throw and catch fish when you order it,the appts where about $900 a month for a one bed/bathroom
):
i ended up a few blocks from there in some dingey hell hole for $500 a month,no heat and unfiltered running water that gave me the itches, there was graffiti all over the outside of the building, along with it's share of shaddy characters- but i got free porn in my room so it wasn't soo bad.

Like most large cities, Vancouver is expensive. I would say it is about equal with Seattle, and a bit more than Portland.

Remember, too, that if you don't have citizenship in Canada, you will need to get the proper documents to live there.

My hubby and I live in Vancouver, about 12 minutes from the central downtown area by bus. We live in a large basement apt of a private house in a nice residential area and pay $500 a month, all utilities, cable and internet provided, as well as laundry facilities, and have a fenced yard as well, as we have pets.

Rent in the downtown area is more, my husbands son had a small 1 bdrm apt in the downtown core area, for $900 a month plus heat, cable, etc.

So, it depends on what you want, what you will settle for, where you want to live, and how diligent you are in looking for a good deal. I would recommend staying in Vancouver, or maybe Burnaby, just because it's closer to everything.

Anyway, it IS possible to find good deals that aren't dumps!
Good luck!
Vancouver is a wonderful place to live.

Although it depends each person's situation, Vancouver is definitely getting more expensive. Housing cost went up a lot! Even living in a hood will cost you $600 a month on average. For downtown, depends on which part, starts at $800 a month on average. You won't get a lot of space in downtown, but it will be convenient with downtown amenities if you know what I'm saying. Public transit is getting real bad now, so is the traffic. Even though the gas ain't cheap no more, the amount of cars during peak hours are still growing, which is something that I don't understand. The government should really check on the population growth and perhaps increase affordable housing projects. Other than those problems, Vancouver is a diversified city with good air, fresh mountains and clear oceans.

With its hill foundation and downtown beaches, Vancouver has got the rightly attained trustworthiness of being one of the very lovely cities on earth, with hotelbye you could have the chance to see this amazing city. One of many areas you need to see in Vancouver may be the Downtown Vancouver. Downtown Vancouver is brilliantly situated on a peninsula in the Strait of Georgia bounded to the south by the delta of the Fraser River and to the north by way of a strong fiord hitting much inland. Here you can even begin to see the usually snow-covered ranges of the Coast Mountains. Stanley Park is one of the very visited parks. Is really a lavish Peninsula Park of large trees surrounding to Downtown Vancouver. A flat seawall way encircles the natural space, and most visitors take the time to investigate on base or by bicycle. Inland, the park presents many things to accomplish, and visitors can invest a full time discovering attractions ranging from the totem rods at Brockton Point to the west coast sea living at the Vancouver Aquarium. Magnificent opinions really are a typical through the entire park.

You need to spend time looking.
Just walk the streets of the West End and look and ask. In 1966, I lived on thr top floor of 1040 Braclay Stree - a one bedroom apartment with a fantastic view.-It wasn't that expensive but right opposite was an older and cheaper place. If you keep looking in the West End you eventually hit pay dirt - REASON
it is a huge are just for working singles and they are consyantly moving. So the Landlords have a lot of vacancies all the time.
While you are looking you will see so many good looking young people - you will think you are in Paradise.

Oh, I hope not, I want to live there one day! Such a pretty city. That whole region of British Columbia is gorgeous, as is Washington state. I think Seattle will be more expensive than Vancouver, but I'm not sure by how much.
