Standard & metric sizes slip or get stuck. Where can I get that wrench that forms itself around the bolt, or one that will work?

deffinately an adjustable wrench - the alligator ones and other that "form fit" suck. they can't get a good enough grip most of the time to actually turn it. (grip tight or lock or something like that with a light blue handle are the best)

Go to an auto store and buy a new oil plug, then a Vise Grip, make sure you buy the name brand, if you get a cheap one it will not work. The parts store will know the size of plug you need.

sounds like the plugs is rounded on the points of the plug. if so go to ur local hardware like bunnings or mitre10 or repco and ask for a set of vice grips. use these to remove the plug. Before u do this go to somewhere like repco and ask for a new plug to fit ur type of vehicle ( toyota, ford, holden). remove plug and replace with the new one with a correct size spanner/tool.

Just get a chisel and make a new hole! Then, when you drive just make sure you stop every 500metres or so and top up your oil....
