First, you Do realize that these are fictional creatures, right?

Okay, having cleared that up...

People "think" that we are at the top of the food chain--that we eat whatever we want to and noting eats us.

We are instinctively afraid of being hunted, a reaction that may be an evolutionary hold-over from ages ago when our ancestors were hunted by all kinds of predators.Vampires may trigger a similar reaction in people.

Finally, although there are a couple of guaranteed ways to kill a vampire (stake to the heart, beheading, and daylight) crosses and garlic are simply repellents...

If there are 3 ways to kill a vampire, there are a thousand ways to kill a person, and by the way, the vampires are supposedly super-strong and vicious.

But its all made up, of course!

Give me your address and I'll show you!

Stakes kill pretty much anything.
Sunlight? We'll just come at get you at night!
Garlic? Doesn't work!
Crosses? Don't work!
Decapitation? Again kills pretty much everything, including you!

Are you frightened of lions, tigers, great white sharks? Of course you are, but there are so many ways to kill them. Stakes, decapitation, etc. Remember you have to get close enough first!

Don't believe everything you see in movies! Now, as I mentioned, give me your address and we can talk about this further, maybe we could meet up for a drink?

Remember, vampires absorb not only the blood but the strength of their victims. Dracula, for instance, was as strong as twenty men. If you have that kind of muscle you don't need karate. Further, Vampires fictionally have the power to shapeshift (so you don't know they're there until they resume human form) and tend to go around at night, when their superhuman senses give them an immense advantage over humans.

Remember, a .38 slug between the eyes can kill any terrorist, but we're still afraid of _them_ for much the same reasons: they can sneak up on us without warning and when they set off one of their TNT-packed vests there goes the neighborhood.

They move about at night when we are our most vulnerable due to our eyesight and also at night our bodies want us to sleep. You cant stay awake every night! In Blade they were able to move about with sunscreen.

It is very hard to find a persons heart, most people haven't a clue when it comes to CPR (resuscitation) and are pressing in the wrong place so a vampire is not going to be easy. Also a considerable amount of force would be needed too.

Also in the UK with the dangerous knives act carrying swords etc will put you in jail where YOU WILL get preyed on by some much scarier things!!!!!

I know im safe beacuse im not a busty corset wearing woman who leaves who bay windows open.

People are not supposed to be afraid of vampires. It just happens that some people are. The vampire bats in S. America occasionally suck blood from cattle, so maybe the locals are a little bit apprehensive at night.

As far as anyone is aware they are human and you dont know until they are biting your neck that they are in fact vampires. And they only come out at night and lots of people are afraid of the dark. Plus a lot of girls hate their wrists and necks being touched by someone they dont trust or are familiar with

em... crosses and garlic don't kill them. they just hate it. as far as i know, they can only be killed with the sunlight and perhaps a wooden stick through the hart.

besides, people throughout history believed in all sorts of things, so it wasn't pretty hard to get them scared.

Well, if you are not really schooled and trained and skilled in "killing" then it is unlikely one would be successful in finding the final solution to any given vampire. It is suggested that we wear turtleneck sweaters and shirts as often as possible after dark. Better yet, a really big metal choker is advised.

I hardly think jabbing a wooden stake through someones heart is easy. And if they know sunlight will kill them they're hardly just gonna take a stroll in the park.Duh! ....................
