I posted my first ever question today and I was so surprised about how rude people can be. I asked a question about time management because I know other people are in similar situations and I wanted to know how they deal with it. Their coping statregies may have been able to help me somewhat. Some of the answers I recieved were relly very nice and gave me ideas about things to try and some people were just outright rude. Why do they feel the need to be like this?

I have experienced this too, and I think the people leaving rude answers are doing so because they are not intelligent enough to give an actual serious answer.
And also some people just want the points, they have no intention of answering quetions at all!

Have you never sent a text or email in a light hearted way that really upset someone because they took it the wrong way?
For many on here, this is a bit of fun and there are sooooo many heavy questions which i answer when i can but too many make it boring.
I'm sure that 98% of answers were not meant to be malicious, just having a laugh, trying to get a smile, etc.
There are however, some real fruit loops on here and some real nasty people but that is representative of real life and you need that spead to get diffrent points of view.
It is a pain when you ask a serious question but i'm gulity of giving daft answers as anybody but call the line at being nasty.
The bottom line is, they don't know you or where you are, you don't know them and will never meet them so just let it go and have fun with it.

Dont take it personally. You dont know these people, so Ive no idea how it can bother you. You will always get a mixed variety of answers, not everyone is as nice as pie and lets face it, would be boring if everyone gave sickly sweet answers. It's good to have a bit of a debate about things. Also people may be having a bad day and feel it's ok to sound off to someone, you are a stranger after all.

I'm sorry to hear that your first experence asking a question was so bad...I can only tell you that it takes all kinds to make a world and of all of those; there will be some 'bad apples' I always try to respond responsibility to questions I answer but unfortunally as a few others have pointed out some people only respond to questions to rack up points like a game and for the bragging rights....try not to let the rudeness of some get you down.

You need to lighten up a little!Its not like that all the time-i only answer if i know i can contribute on a subject,and try to answer with friendliness and without rudeness-except with certain posts,then i'm afraid rudeness goes out of the window!

Because the Internet is faceless and they feel they can vent their rudeness without fear of retaliation. If you'd asked that question in a room full of people, I bet you wouldn't have gotten as many smart-a&& answers -- if any -- simply because you could've punched their lights out if they did.
People come to this forum for all kinds of reasons. Some genuinely want to help other people, and some just want a place where they can be as nasty and snotty as they please. I'm sorry your first question was treated so rudely, but just try to focus on the good answers and forget the bad ones.

Q&A is like a baptism by rudness at times and is unfortunately par of the course when using this facility.
Anyway welcome aboard! You will find as the weeks go by that the kind and curteous outweigh the rude, and that you will learn eventually to ignore the rude punters. Though they can be hard to ignore especially if your're feeling a bit low, but like road rage best to ignore otherwise you may find yourself retalliating by being rude also.

Because rude is there and some people have to use it - somehow it makes the world interesting as compared to singing and dancing around the Throne for all erternity!

Because they're the kind of people who are easily bored and think they have a sense of humour. Or they think they are superior. Of course, the fact that they are wasting your time with their nonsense, isn't important to them. Pay no attention to these empty headed and ignorant idiots. The world is full of real people. Avoid the space wasters.

Heat and Kitchen. Most of us are not cruel beasts - just a bit of fun. Oh, and life sucks sometimes but just get on out there and try your best like all of us have to do. - it gets better honestly
