Click Tools, then Internet Options, then Clear History and Delete Cookies if you're using Internet Explorer. If you want to clear all annoying files/cookies etc, download a little piece of useful software called CCleaner from http://www.ccleaner.com/ and use it every few days.

Cleaning only the history from Tools > Options will not work.
You have to clean the 'typed' addresses in the registry. Do the following:
Start
Run
type regedit
expand HKEY_CURRENT_USER
expand Software
expand Microsoft
expand Internet Explorer
click on TypedURLs
right click on the URL that you want to delete and choose Delete from the pop-up menu
There you go... but be very carefull when you're modifying the registry
Good luck.

Also, when you've cleared your history (as mentioned above), go to Tools>>>Internet Options>>>Content (tab), click the AutoComplete button and take the check out of Web Addresses, then click Apply, then OK.
