start by making an inventory of everything you have, organise your packing to match your stuff - you can buy big rolls of bubblewrap very inexpensively, and lots of cardboard boxes

Pack each room in turn - label each box, and if you're not going to physically transport everything, put BIG labels on each thing to say where it's going in the new place, and whether its fragile etc.

Move the biggest pieces first - arrange them first, then you can add the little bits at your leisure.

Pack everything now, except for the bare minimum. That way you know how much you have to move - it always seems to be twice as much as you think!

Make sure all utilities and deliveries to your old address are stopped, so you're not liable when you're gone.

Inform your local post office that you're changing address so they can forward your post.

Don't forget to deal with things like bins or licences or insurances that can be transferred to your new address and save you some money.

Finally, give your old house a thorough cleaning when everything is boxed up - it's the best way to see what you've missed!

The first day you get to your new house, don't unpack anything but the bare essentials. Take your time, think of having everything done one month after you move in. This will take some of the pressure off you.

Enjoy! Relax, have a glass of wine!
