It depends on where you find the information. And as always, it's up to you to weigh different sources and determine what you think's best. Most of the time if people are posting on forums that anyone can get into and can do so anonymously, then the information is usually crap.
However, some of the info is very reliable. Determining which is which is what's hard about getting information of any kind from any source. Even information you get from doctors will vary.

they are not very reliable... according to my previous and current science teachers, practically none of the information posted on the internet are helpful to wad we are learning

Some info is accurate, others misinformed, others still just malicious misleading info. You have to read what is said from a number of different sources and make a judgement call as to what you feel seems right.
