When we don't use the Jacuzzi function for a while and the turn it on lots of little black flakes of God knows what. At the moment we fill the bath up every now and then and put in sterilising tablet (for babies bottles) we then leave it running for about 5 minutes. Also what are the black flakes made of ?

The black flakes you refer to is dirt which is trap in the piping system and pump from previous usage. To get rid of it, try getting some chlorine powder or bromide powder from any swimming pool contractor. Put in a small teaspoon of it, run the jacuzzi with water in it for 30 minutes then flush away the water . Run again with clean fresh water to remove the chemical. You might have to repeat the whole procedure again if the jacuzzi is old and badly stained.

There is a product on the market called Systems clean that is sold by Jacuzzi. It is specifically designed the clean the pipes of your whirlpool bath. It is sold at Lowe's and retails for about $13 (comes in a 5 pack for that cost).

If the whirlpool is really dirty - there is a product called Super Systems Clean that is sold on the Jacuzzi website - www.jacuzzi.com

Like everything, you should regularly clean your whirlpool pipes. This is really the easiest product on the market to keep your bath clean. You just pour it in the bath after you use it, turn the jets for 10 minutes and then drain the water.

I use it in my own whirlpool.

Sounds like the pipes or pump are corroding inside, what material are they made of? Either that or you have very hard or soft water? It could be a natural buildup of naturally-occuring minerals in your water source. Have the water tested by a pool/jucauzzi company. Treat it like a big coffee maker once a year: use hot water and lots of vinegar, turn jets on for a split second, and then let the mixture sit for several hours with the jets NOT running. Then run it to blast out the flakes/dirt. Clean the tub itself with plain vinegar. failing that consult the manufacturer or a company that is reputable (BBB approved) for advice.

Congratulations on your new house. I am a frequent mover of a large household. I would suggest that you label boxes boldly by the destination room, identify and label those that should be opened first (for me this includes the coffee pot, coffee and filters) and, pack up first the items that can be opened last, and consider giving these a designated temporary destination of your garage or third bedroom. This will allow you to get you new home in order even before you have really finished unpacking. And lastly, my cats are more comfortable during a move if I close them into a room where they can feel safe and secure and isolated from the confusion. You may want to settle them in first, close the door to their room and then focus on the rest of the items. Good luck!

Just have it sprayed with muriatic acid. then sand it with 1500grade waterproof sand paper. Be sure your jacuzzi is not enamel finish, it must be porcelein finished.
