Development tends to affect beach erosion. Also pollution from streams, rivers and estuaries can affect marine life even some distance from shore.

Humans construct breakwaters, which are friendly to navigation but not necessarily to sea life. Natural habitats tend to be affected.

On the other hand man contributes sunken ships and other construction which can form habitats for sea life.

Also, humans fish close to shore and that may affect the types and amount of edible fish found in a particular area.
