A two stroke engine consumes more fuel than 4 stroke engine due to a variety of reasons. But the most important reason is that it has inlet and exhaust ports instead of valves which are present in 4 stroke engine. Ports are unchecked holes, to put it in layman's language while valves check the exhaust of unburnt fuel, enhancing its efficiency. Due to this reason a 2 stroke engine consumes more fuel. Another reason is that 2 stroke engine works more rapidly, completing the cycle in just one displacement of piston, which leaves less time to burn the fuel completely. This is the reason that 2 stroke engines are also more polluting. For more details mail me at elvin6658@yahoo.co.in

2 stroke engine needs to consume more fuel 2 compete and get into the same capacity as 4 stroke engine..perhaps it consumes more fuel..where as 4 stroke engine does not need much fuel 2 get into its normal state..!!

It has to do double the work of a 4-stroke engine in order to get the same result...which will require more fuel or energy

It has many reasons,
1. The combustion is more efficient because the fuel is added in the fresh air filled cylinder. The scavenging of burnt gases is complete in the previous cycle.
2.The ignition and fuel addition/injection is better optimised in four stroke whcih has to be slightly compromised in two stroke because cycle has to be completed in twostroke.
There are some other technical reasons also like higher compression ratio etc whcih contribute the efficiency.

A two stroke engine fires every other stoke, a four stoke engine fires every fourth stroke. there fore a two stoke will consume more fuel. A two stroke has higher revolutions, with less torque. A four stoke has fewer revolutions but more torque. If you want speed go with a two stroke, a four stroke will give you more power. hope this answer your question.

Bcos as the name implies, in 2 stroke engines power generated every 2 strokes of piston movement. Some charge (petrol air mixure) is wasted without burning while the burnt gases are exhausted.

It is because the engine has twice as many combustions per second as a four-stroke engine revolving at the same speed. Good luck and i hope that answers your question!

because the whole cycle completes in one revolution and more unburnt fuel is release in to the atmosphere where asthis will not happens in 4 stroke engine

Each works together. 4 is more efficient.
