If you really loved your university lover, would you really want that to disappear? You can be happy that good memories last forever while appreciating the present. Your feelings for a past girl don't make the feelings for your wife any less. Marriage doesn't magically remove the past, just as it doesn't make you love your wife. You actively choose to love your wife every day and that's what matters.

Hopefully your girlfriend from college was also a good friend. Of course you miss her. When you're in school, there are many great times to be had and you're remembering those, I'm sure. Our memories tend to push the not-so-good times into the background. But we have different phases in our lives and you are now in the most important phase of your life and how you treat your wife (and any children) is the issue you must deal with. I hope you can compartmentalize. This is now; that was then. Build on your present relationship by planning dates with your wife; do romantic things to please her (flowers, a sweet note, a pretty bracelet); do things now that will make wonderful memories for later.

After forty three years on this earth plane I can share one bit of wisdom with you, whether you take it or not is up to you. The grass is never EVER greener on the other side although you may think it is. Having extra marital affairs is way too much work and never goes anywhere except ruining a good marriage to start with and don't make your life any more complicated than it already is! Life is hard enough, why make it worse? No matter who you co-habitate with, your going to have alot of problems even with the gal from college if you just decided to take up with her instead. Fantasize in your head and do what ever it takes to get it out of your system but it is better to just stay with the life you have and get over it!

Maybe your marriage is missing something, or maybe you didn't get the closer you needed with your girlfriend.

I cant say why .................... but I can advice you to not to let this happen because its only going to be harder and harder for you to give your 100% to your wife.
