Applying at a cell phone store tomorrow

"Describe a time you had to work with someone you didn't like."
"Tell me about a time when you had to stick by a decision you had made, even though it made you very unpopular."
"How would you handle a boss you suspected of performing unethical actions?"
"Would you describe yourself as an innovative person? Give us an example of something particularly innovative that you have done that made a difference in the workplace."
"What was the last time you were late with a project?"

What are the best answers for those kinds of questions?

What other job interview questions may be asked and what are good answers for them?

1. I could see that she didn't really have her heart in the job and did not take pride in her work. This made me angry because I thought that my company and our customers deserved better than this.

2. I knew a lot of my friend were looking forward to getting off early because it was Friday and they were already thinking of the weekend. In the end I had to put responsibility ahead of friendship. I knew that the boss had placed his trust in me and that we had to get the orders packed and posted that night or we would have angry customers chasing their deliveries all day on Monday.

3. It all depends on what the actions were. One one level, he is the boss so I start with the assumption that he knows more about procedure than me. It also depends what level of boss he is because if he is, say, a manager, one step above me and I know for a fact that he is cheating the company then I would feel obliged to find some way to pass that on to a higher authority. If anyone specifically asked me to do something unethical I would not do it and I would trust that the company would protect me from dismissal resulting from my disobeying such an order.

4. I am innovative, these days everyone has to be if they don't want to get left behind. I have always looked to new technology to innovate with. I believe that we have to avoid rigourously sticking to old methods when new and more efficient become available. It would no longer make sense to communicate by telex because fax offered more functionality at less cost, but now even fax is antiquated and expensive by comparison with email. There is no longer any point to being anchored to a workstation when mobile communications devices enable us to work from site and while travelling, saving time and money.

5. I don't submit projects late as long as the initial deadline was realistic and the specifications have not been changed.

I have no idea what other questions may be asked, there could be a few hundred alternatives but make each answer reflect your belief in honesty, hard work and loyalty.

Here are some suggested answers, serialwise:
1) One time when I got my first job, this female who shared my work-space had SUCH a strong body odour that I JUST could not stand it! 2) Everybody regaled evewrybody else at lunch, with some new gossip about the absent colleagues; when they asked me what I thought of............, I said I do NOT talk about others, especially behind their backs. They all gave me disapproving stares, but I flatly stood by what I believed as the best behavior.
3) I tell the boss privately, in his cabin:" See, you may think there is nothing wrong. But I won't do such a thing, and would NOT be party to it." I value a peaceful good noght's sleep!
4) It was winter time, and many others wanted to go to the nearby Gym , immediately after office hours, but did not do so because of the change of clothes that they had to carry.
I wore my gym clothes right under my office-wear, and after work I just slipped out of the formal clothes into my Gym clothes! Viola!
Everybody remarked "How innovative!", and now lots of us are happier for doing the same.
5) " How does it matter when I was late for the last project?", I'd ask. What matters is how I handle the project in hand NOW! I can show you, by my results,(I am an ACTION-oriented person!!) that I am of real value to the team and to this company. Isn't that what is more important, in Proj mgmt?
A frequently asked Qs: "Where do you see yourself 5 years down the road from today?"
A: In 5 years I see myself as the All India Sales Manager of this company, with 100 salespersons reporting to me for guidance , and I frequently flying Business class to all the Metro cities, guiding them. I would be having a company car and a driver." etc....
