Let L be the low temperature and H be the high.
Two equations are provided as follows:
L = (4/3) * (1/2 * H)
L + H = 100.
The first equation resolves into L = 2/3 H
Substituting the second into the first gives
L = (2/3) * (100 - L)
This resolves to L + 2/3L = 200/3, 5L=200, L=200/5
so the answer is L = 40

Let

1/3x low Temperature

1/2x High Temperature

100 Highest Degree

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

1/3x + 1/2x = 100

6(1/3x) + 6(1/2x) = 6(100)

2x + 3x = 600

5x = 600

5x/5 = 600/5

x = 120

The answer is x = 120

The solution set is { 120 }

Insert the x value into the equation

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

1/3x + 1/2x = 100

1/3(120) + 1/2(120) = 100

120/3 + 120/2 = 100

40 + 60 = 100

100 = 100

The Low temperature is 40 degrees

The high temperature is 50 degrees

Let x be the high temp and y be the low temp

x + y = 100 ---- (1)
y/2 = 3x/4 ---- (2)
sub (2) into (1)
x + 3x/2 = 100
x = 60 ---- (3)
Sub (3) into (1)
y = 40

1/3x+1/2x=100; 2x/6+3x/6=100; 5x=600; x=120

and continue: 1/3 x 120= 40 (lowest)
1/2 x 120 = 60 (highest

Let x be the high temp and y be the low temp

x + y = 100 ---- (i)

y/2 = 3x/4 ---- (ii)
so it be by cross multiply and both alphabet on one side

2y -3x = 0

sub (ii)by (i)
by mul equ (i) by 3
3(x + y = 100) ---- (i)

3x + 3y = 300 (i)
2y -3x = 0 ........(ii)
u get
5y = 300
y = 300/5
y = 60
then x = 100 - y = 40
x = 40

If your math teacher wrote that, he/she should talk to the english teacher, because that question is not clearly stated.
