We are dudes. We don't care what other folks are using/wearing. When I find something I like I want to continue using it. For example for 15 years or more I used the same deoderant. It worked. The ladies liked the scent. Then they had to come up with a new and improved. Took me a year to find a new brand I liked because new in this case didn't work. I find myself when I find a prouduct I like stocking up on it. I do this with razors, shirts, boots, shades what ever else I really like. Some guys hate change. So they buy out of habit period. Me I like what works. I'll try new stuff. I was never happy with either boxers or breifs for underwear. When the boxer briefs came out I tried them and that's all I buy now. It's not change, it's the changing of things that work to things that don't work. So my question is why do men's product manufacturers constantly change things up. We are guys. We want to go in and buy something we know works. One less thing to bother with.

Fads are for the ladies when it comes to grooming products and apparel. When a guy looks at clothes the first thought for most of us is comfort. Then whether or not it looks bad or gives an unwanted impression. Durability is also very important. We want clothes that last a long time. Many a woman has in the dead of night snuck in and thrown away their man's ancient clothing. Until the last strip of cloth has given way and it's no longer wearable it's wearable to a guy.

Fact is if we can avoid a store we will. We don't want to stand around comparing razor features. Thats time taken from more important tasks. If we have to be in a store show us the power tools not the clothing section. When I go in to buy a shirt in 5 minutes I have selected what I am going to buy. So why all the fixing of things that are not broken? Why discontinue stuff that sells? With ladies stuff things come and go out fashion. Guys are not that way. Why treat us like that?

I think you answered your own question in Additional Details. The corporations know that the majority of the shoppers are still females. Even though the gender lines are evening out at the workplace, men still prefer to give the women the money and let them do the shopping (not being sexist here, it's just common knowledge that most women love to shop). I think the fads are reaching out more to women.

Take for example your average razor commercial. When's the last time you saw a razor commercial that didn't have a woman caressing a guy's face? Most average joes could care less about stubble. We're MEN. We're SUPPOSED to have stubble. Women prefer their men clean shaven though. They want be that woman in the commercial that can glide her hands over her man's face and not have to put a bandage on afterwards. So when she goes shopping, she's picking up THAT razor for YOU.

The fads are getting on my nerves too. Especially Axe and Tag. Sure they smell nice but the stuff only lasts about 3 hours tops. Now they're advertising Body Shots because they probably notice guys are abandoning the product in droves. I'll keep my Arm and Hammer deoderant. The package ain't pretty and the name isn't glamorous but it works for me.

All guys are diffrent. You don't like all the fads, some guys do. Some guys will sit there for 20 minutes (literally) choosing either to buy Axe or Old Spice. It's all in your personality. I know guys who would go out and just pick whatever they see, and guys who will go out and compare everything. Eh. People are diffrent. That's all. Plus most people like being up-to-date. That sells.

Pure consumerism. They do it to us girls too.
See, when they switched it up on you, you had to buy a few deodorants and try all of them. That's money in somebody's pocket!
