Don't worry, it's normal! I have a 2 yr old daughter & she has done that since cutting her first top & bottom teeth! I have 9 month old twins & they also do it!
Your son has probably got more teeth coming so is trying to rub his other teeth on them. You could try a teething ring but buy the one suitable for his age as they come as rings for young babies & different shapes for older babies so they can reach the back teeth.
It's really nothing to worry about though although it's not very nice to listen to, it makes me shudder!

Molars at 21 months?? He will end up with a serious underbite unless you get him to the dentist and maybe ask THEM why he is doing it. Also: Why do people insist on using months to describe the age of their kiddies? Why don't you just say 2 or nearly 2??

They do this, my daughter went thru a phase of doing this but i managed to get her to stop by asking her nicely and if that didn't work i would just hold her cheeks gently between my fingers so she couldn't and ask her not to.
i think because its a new noise and feeling, they're experimenting with everything at this age and its just one of those things they find they can do and it amuses them.
