Change your approach, your work habit, not your personality. Start writing now and write 1000 words a day. Keep a journal.

You are doing the right thing reading good books. Good books will pull you up to their level. Do not despair when you compare their effort to yours. You pick high models, and it lifts you up, inevitably.

How can you compare (you want to write a novel) with a MASTERPIECE and lose confidence?! A Masterpiece is a literary great, you are comparing an orange with an apple! Not fair! Be who you are, what you want to be. If anything at all with the above comparison, it should motivates you to be better, to be like them. Cheer up, and all the best.

I don't know anything about writing but I do know that a person shouldn't compare themselves to anyone else. That's not realistic or fair. When you read a "masterpiece" use it as inspiration instead of comparison. Just continue to learn and grow (at your own pace). Good luck!
