someone told me it was the harmonic balancer--or is it the clutch pulley? where is the best place to find this pulley? i've had trouble finding alot of the parts for this car. also with the puley broke , what is the easiest way to remove the nut if i dont have an impact wrench.? (that could have been some points individually) i just need to get it fixed. i think because the car car has it set up different from what i've seen only a few times. should i go ahead and replace the timing belt ? is that just adding to problems or can it be done since im replacing the pulley? i'd apreciate any help at all.

Like Solun said, the crank pulley can be removed without an impact driver. You just need a way to keep the engine from turning over while you are trying to loosen the bolt. If the engine is still in the car and you have a manual transmission, just put it in top gear and put on the parking brake. Otherwise, if the engine is out of the car or you have an automatic, you'll have to find some way to keep the engine from turning over, probably by blocking the flywheel.

If you get the pulley off, you might as well consider replacing the timing belt or chain. That's the hardest part of doing that job. Depends on when it was done last.

It is called the Crank pulley and you can take it off without a impact gun but you need someone with a pry bar to hold it from turning at the flywheel or by the cam gear. Good luck!!!

Best place to find parts is probably your local wrecking yard. I have had some luck with Checker and Autozone, not sure if you have them in your state. (also have a 91 mx6, personally I love it, been a great car.) Good luck. BTW the last 2 were right it's a crank pully.
