ok im 17 and i have a gay friend and he is in the grade below me and he gets picked on alot because we live in a small town but i try and protect him i have gotten beaten up 3 times just because i was his friend! thats how bad it is in my town but now i am out of school and i want to make sure he is safe and i have already talked to the teachers and principal but they didnt really care! what should i do?

Make sure he is with the right people. There is no sure way of protecting him, but do try to go to pick him up from school if thats sthing that you can do. Inside the school, i guess he just needs another good friend like you.

There must be other people like you who would stand up to justice and still in that school. Talk to likely candidates and see if you can find a new protector for your friend.
BTW, you're doing a really good thing.

call the papers and make a big issue about it, how mean people are, or be you could go beat down some people to show them your not gonna take this crap.
