For the past 3 months my husband right arm has gotten numb and tingly during the night. It rarely happens during the day, maybe once in a while when hes driving. It usually wakes him up during the night because he's in pain. Recently, his left arm started to do the same thing. Medication doesn't help. About a month ago he started to go to the chiropractor and was helping, somewhat. However, he stopped going. He works in construction, could that be contributing to the problem? Or is it something else?

sound like a pinched nerve. Seeing a neurologist for test can determine where the pinched nerve is and can generally 'cast' the site for sleep. I had this done for an ulner nerve pinch in my elbow. It helped. The doc also put me on vitamin b12 (or 6, I don't have the bottle with me) and vitamin e to help out.

You aren't telling us what the medication is or why your husband is taking it.

My suspicion is that somehow he injured his right arm. Then he started to compensate by using his left arm more, and now that too is giving him problems.

It doesn't sound like a back problem to me -- I think it is more likely directly related to his initial arm injury -- overuse perhaps.

When you mentioned "driving" that triggered a memory for me. Is everything okay with his vehicle? Is there something wrong with the steering? Something he has noticed but has not had fixed yet?

I hope my guesses help your husband. Good luck.

Sounds like a pinched nerve. Several of us in my neighborhood have symptoms like you're describing. My husband got better after going to the chiropractor, too.

I would recommend an MRI first to see if there is an impingement on the never in the C2-C6 section of the spine. If that is ok then I would look at his daily routine such as carrying lumber on his shoulder by himself. He could possibly get help and alter his habbits to reduce the effects on his body.

Don't want to scare you, but you should also get it checked it by the ER with the nitro treatment.. Could be Angina, or tiny mini heart attacks.... I do of course hope it's not and it's like the others are saying.. pinched nerve.. but better safe....
