More information would be ideal….
Do you use Outlook, Outlook Express or a mail client like that?
Any error messages?
Any large attachments on the message?
Does it appear to try to send or just do nothing?
Be sure you can actually surf the Internet – yes, I know, I’ve had situations where people haven’t.
Possibly a firewall could be blocking the outgoing port – 25.
Check any anti-virus programs and look for the option to “scan incoming” and “scan outgoing” mail – disable the outgoing scan.
If you have an attachment, try setting the “time out” option to the longest amount of time in your mail client settings – it might not have enough time to send the whole message if there’s a large file attached.
If you automatically rely on “send/receive” to send mail, try just sending the mail only – there might be an error with the receiving portion that stops the process before you can send.
If you have an option to log in via a Web site, use that and see if you can send a message from there – if so, the error could be related to your machine, if not, the error could be on your provider’s end.
Contact your mail provider and ask about any known issues.

What program are you using? If it is outlook, maybe just a click of the send/receive button at the top of the screen is needed. If you click this and a yellow triangle with an error comes up in the bottom, try finding some information on the error, or if your at work, ask the tech guys!

Get a pen, a piece of paper, an envelope and a stamp or two and write to the people instead.
Post is the way forward!
