It's stressful because it combines a number of stress factors all at once
- major change in your environment
- strict deadline beyond your control (once you sign up to it)
- the people you rely on for comfort are equally stressed
- children, pets, etc need particular care from you
- your whole world is in the hands of others
- your money and possessions are at risk
- there's a lot of work involved
Make sure you have some creature comforts to hand - have a goodie bag that you take with you with some chocolates, cd player & music, lavender fragrance, whatever works for you.
Try and get a good night's sleep before the move. If you have a good friend nearby why not invite them round to cheer you up and help you unpack.
In terms of unpacking, do the important stuff, stuff you use all the time and that makes the place look like home, in the first week. Clean each shelf, cupboard, carpet, etc before you unpack onto it. Leave the other bags and boxes - out of season clothes, files, etc - if you can't face them at first and are busy with other things; but make sure you have a routine of say one box a week until it's all done.
Remember that millions of people move all the time and survive - you will be fine!

You can ease the stress by making it a lot easier when unpacking in your new home, by marking each box with a large felt tip marker the contents,- "KITCHEN- UTENSILS" or "LOUNGE- ORNAMENTS" then at least you can direct the boxes into the correct room. Instead of having them all mixed up all over the place.

Tell me about it. We move regularly, not just house but countries too. Just think about what it will be like afterwards in the new place when you are all sorted - there is light at the end of the tunnel - trust me!

Yep I know how you are feeling so your not alone. It is very stressful as every thing has to be done by a certain time. Not only that it can be very hard work on the body itself.
