Canada willingly volunteered for the operation in Afghanistan. The entire world was opposed to the actions of the Taleban prior to 9/11, for reasons including female genital mutilations, attacking anyone who was not fully adherent to a particular dogma, and destroying the statues of the Buddhas. Canada is not very involved in Iraq, and has largely disengaged from Afghanistan. I am curious where you get your information.
Canada did not agree to enter into Iraq until recently, and then with a very limited force. If you were an informed Canadian over the age of 25 you would remember why Canada declined to enter Iraq.
There are fewer than 100 Canadian soldiers in Iraq representing Canada. There are many more mercenaries, who contracted with other groups, for much higher pay than the Canadian Defense pays, but noone ordered them there, they went voluntarily for the high wages a mercenary is paid.
The US Government is not engaging in an action against a religion, nor trying to change other's religions. Nor is the USA stealing or even trying to steal Iraq's oil. A few rightwing radio people said that we should, but those are most assuredly not the decision makers, or even significant influences on Governmental decision making.
Some Americans are stating improperly in claiming that it is a war on Islam, but that is mostly talk-radio people and their followers. Many Americans do misunderstand the news they hear, and like in everyday life, people hear what they want to hear through the context of their level of intelligence and experience.
I am not aware of any credible American in a position of governmental authority saying that Islam is a "wrong religion". Turkey, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are Islamic countries and allies in the war on terror, and they most assuredly are allies in these actions. Other Islamic countries also support the war on terror, and had been terrorized long before 9/11. Turkey did hold out at first, to ensure that Kurdistan would not be a threat to Turkey, as many Kurds live in Turkey.
Some religious people do oppose Islam, as well as other denominations and religions, but they are not ordering the troups into combat. Some non-governmental Americans are calling for Islam to adhere to it's publicly stated principles, and to address the Islamic politicians who use Islam as a rationalization for a number of abominations against others.
There are a number of reasons why the world should oppose totalitarian states that brutalize their own people and others. However, geopolitics is a very complex and ever-changing field, and the concepts which justify actions are not easily comprehended. Iraq is an important state, not so much for the oil, all of which revenues are limited to Iraqis, but rather because of their dramatic increases in offensive capacities since the first Gulf War.
When will it end? There will always be wars and rumors of wars.
Marx said that there will only be peace when everyone accepts socialism. Islam looks forward to peace when everyone is a good Muslim. Some Christians think there will be peace after the return of the Messiah.
Iraq is not a war for oil. Many propandists imply or even claim this, but they are incorrect, as are their true believers. If you haven't noticed, the oil exports from Iraq have been diminished, and the revenue from the oil is used for Iraqis. They have much more wealth because the tensions have increased the price they recieve for oil, so their net oil revenues are higher than they have previously been, even though they are currently producing and exporting less than before the war. Additionally, the revenues are more equitably distributed, rather than to a small clicque. Also, much foreign aid has been sent into Iraq. Iraqi casualties and injuries fromt the war are fewer than were during the final years of the reign of Hussein.
You are aware that Hussein is on trial for genocide of the Kurds, are you not? He also selected certain Shi'ite communities to destroy. Hussein changed the situation when he instigated the hegemony by trying to take over Kuwait. He was also involved in a number of illegal activities, and the UN has determined that he was involved in a number of prohibited activities. But if you look closely, the original statement on Iraq did include a military response. UN politicians spoke rhetoric, but didn't undertake the necessary procedural actions to prevent the deposition of Hussein.
I hope you asked this to gain information.
Good luck to you, the world is a very tough place.

i agree... america should worry about it's problems IN AMERICA... a lot of americans are in poverty, have no health care, theres an immigration problem, etc. america needs to fix it's own problems and not try to govern the world.... we have no right to tell other countries how to govern it's people.. if someone tried to tell the usa how to run itself, they would probably start a war over it... each country has the right to it's own beliefs.. if the people of said country don't like it, then they themselves (not america) should rise against it and make a change... like how america emancipated itself from England... america needs to treat other countrys as it would like to be treated itself. it's common courtesy...what's good for the goose is good for the gander... america should not have double standards..

You are either very young, naive, don't read current events
or are mentally disabled!!
Why don't you check into a little history little girl
and find out how many Americans and others were
killed by these people way before 911.
Your government is much wiser than you as they
know that your country is not immune to these killers.
Your little comment to the moron earlier who wanted
to know if the U.S. was going to submit to Haha and Is"lame"
just showed your ignorance as to what is going on in the
world.
The U.S. has enough energy sources to keep us going for
more than 250 years. We don't need their oil, dimwit.
Try knowing what you are talking about before embarrassing
your country with your ignorance.
God Bless the U.S.A. and CANADA!!
As I have many Canadian friends that know the real
reason as to why we are in Iraq.

I also from Canada and agree with you fully these wars going on
who says that are canadian soldiers and American soldiers are not just escalating the statte of chaos pull everyone out and let them deal with it this has been going on for decades between
between the Palestians and the Israelis so why send our troops to be slaughtered if we would let everthing go it own way we would not be hearing of Canadian soldiers being killed and family members dealing with such a tragic loss. Personally its pathetic
I do believe its time for the Canadian government to pull its troops completely NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have to agree with you. Although I am proud to be an American and I completely support my country and our soldiers, I, too disagree with the scare tactics administered by our current President. Unfortunately, dictators govern by fear and people are afraid to stand behind their beliefs.
There is a silver lining in that he's almost out of office.

Yup, imagine what it is like for those of us who have to live HERE and deal with it. I couldn't agree with you more. I am a very proud American, but I am not proud of how the current administration deals with foreign policy.
