That is why you are there (thank god) and I am here....and WE DON'T WANT THEIR FRICKIN' OIL!!!!!!!!!!
Buy a clue, a braincell, break out from the cult, think OUTSIDE the propaganda, take some initiative to THINK FOR YOURSELF, instead of spewing liberal talking points!

I totally understand where you're coming from. Although Canada isn't in Iraq, we are in Afghanistan and we're losing a lot of soldiers there right now. Thanks to the new approach Harper's taken our military since he's been elected.
As much as some Americans don't want to believe that they're fighting for the almighty dollar...it's sad but true.
People act as if the Americans are the innocent victims in all of this. They're not. Yes, they had a terrible attack on them on 9/11 but that's one day compared to the years of war that the innocent people of Iraq have had to endure due to an illegal war.
I don't like war but I do understand that sometimes we need war in order to get peace. However the war in Iraq is wrong and nobody can convince me otherwise. Heaven forbid we accuse the American government of being wrong.

This is not a question, even though you use a question mark. But your question is embedded in the later text, “who gave you (America) the right to tell other cultures how to live? etc…
You speak of the deception created by the US Govt., and scare tactics to bully other countries to conform…”
Deception ocurred and there were scare tactics(and bribery) used too.
This statement (not question) has produced very much the same kind of answers that are fairly typical of a group of people who claim that their Fox News data are better/more accurate/less biased than your data. They continue to ask questions like “would you rather see Saddam Hussein back in power”
To those who ask that question the Iraqis may well say no (and there have been a number of surveys) but they will certainly say that they wish the Americans would go, and more than that, they wish they had never come. That’s pretty clear, even for a Republican. When Iraqis in the street attack the corpse of any dead US soldier even the average American viewer gets the picture.
And then others will say “Saddam gassed the Kurds-his own people” – shock horror! Of course these people omit to point out that US taxpayers were paying the CIA to develop counter insurgencies using Kurds in Iraq to bring Saddam down (that is terrorism, just in case you may have forgotten its definition), and it is important to be reminded that the chemical weapons used against the insurgent Kurds was sold to Saddam by the West, including none other than - yes - Bush senior’s team.
And as for torture chambers the UN has stated categorically that torture is much worse now under the new regime (but not by the new regime) than when Saddam was in power, and tortured remains of people found daily, thanks to the US failure to control the ground situation. Of course the US never can get control, because it is hated almost as much as Saddam was.The new government as US puppets also cannot get control. That is obvious to all who understand their history.
Then there is the fascinating argument which goes “we don’t want their oil!”
For those who wonder why the invasion ever took place at all, it is worth noting the obvious geo-political reality before 9/11 and that was that the US got the Saudi rulers to side with it against Saddam. When that ally became an untenable relationship (Saudis did not support their rulers' view that the US should be supported against Saddam) Saudi, as the World’s largest oil producer was lost to the US, the hungriest oil guzzling nation on earth. Where next? How about the second largest oil producer world wide – Iraq? Can we find an excuse to invade…? sure can! Even have a plan ready (well documented). Controlling the oil is not quite the same as stealing it! Killing 30,000 of its people, destroying its infrastructure and giving the repair and rebuilding of Iraq to US friends would make taking their oil with the eyes of the world on you, just impossible.
Then we have the ultimate challenge which goes something like this… what would you have done if your country had had a major terrorist attack? Invade any "bad" country? Not invaded a country that had nothing to do with the terrorist attack, don’t you think? Most of the plane hijackers were from Saudi, confirming why the US got out of there fast to find new oil pastures.
And how about the 3,000 lost in the towers. How about the thousands lost in Palestine dying from US funded weapons used by the Israelis. You wont be able to find many Arab families in Palestine who can show you a family photo of 3 generations. In America, if the situation got to that level, life would be hell on earth. So, if you look into your history, saying that many Americans died before 9/11 is absolutely correct! (sometimes killed in army barracks in places where they should not have been). And if you look at US funded terrorism and the use of the UN veto to stop the UN carrying out investigations into the torture and mistreatment and murder of Arabs in Palestine, then you will understand that this “war” has been going on long before 9/11.
Ante-penultimately, calling people names (mentally disabled, liberal wimps, no balls etc etc ) because they do not agree with your view of the planet says more about the speaker than it does about those described.
Penultimately, God bless the USA is also a chant often made. Followed by either if you don’t like it live somewhere else, or you are not a patriot. If one of my friends does something I believe is fundamentally wrong, I tell him. This is better than agreeing with him just because I am his friend! So the Americans can boot out the ungrateful French and Germans as no longer friends, they are in trouble! (no more French fries?) In practice, diversity is strength. If everyone were to agree with everything, there can be no progress. That’s why America has been (up till now) so successful.
Ultimately, we need to differentiate between fact and distortion. With all the bombardment of the media we live in a time which needs not simply to absorb knowledge but to evaluate it!

I agree.
Americans like Bush are very arrogant and assume they have the answers for everything including religion and other stuff. Like for example, over there they have arranged marriages and Americans are like wow that's so wrong. WTF? Mind your own business!
And apparently they have the 'wrong religion' because some dumbf@cks decide to kill in the "name of God" Look at your own damn country before you try to fix others. What about the Christian-fanatics who go around molesting little girls, or murdering people "in the name of God"? Apparently then the situation is "different" because they're just plain stupid but when it's an Arab terrorist then all hell breaks loose.
Of course no one could be more devasted for the 9/11 families then fellow Americans; but think about it, will you hold a grudge against them forever? For example.. the Pearl Harbor attack.. today when you go out, do you spit at every Japanese that crosses your path?
Iraq is not a damn helpless third world country! The only reason conditions are so bad there is because of Bush; he caused them. I'd pick Clinton over some redneck-National-guard sissy anyday.

I am Canadian too, and I share some of your sentiments, and I was once as angry about America as you are. Well, I still am angry about some things, but we need rational dialogue between us. No insults, just dialogue and understanding.
Face it, Canada has stood side by side with the US on many controversial issues, and will continue to do so. What we need to do is work together for change on both sides of the border.
Oh, and as for lucky2bealive, you say Canada should worry about its own problems? You're right, but don't forget: America's influence is far-reaching, and what you do affects not just the US, but other countries as well. You've used that same link many times here. How about another tune?

While yes the U.S.A. is viewed as the policing country of the world, you have to ask yourself these questions. What would you have done if it had been YOUR country that terrorists used jets to plow into your buildings? What if you had lost a loved one due to terrorism? When do you ever think that the family members of the 3,000 people who were killed on that fateful day will ever find peace. Sometimes you have to walk a mile in someone else's shoes before you can honestly know where they stand.

Thank God you don't speak for all Canadians- CherryRed. How many times do I have to say; Canada IS NOT in Iraq. We are in Afghanistan under the umbrella of NATO, NOT THE UNITED STATES. It was the Liberal government who signed us up. I guess you would have let Hitler stay in power too! Good God.

If we're in this war for the oil how come we haven't taken the oil for Gods sake? Hurry up, take it, give me 10 cent a gallon gas too. Why do you folks spew that crap? Has anybody noticed we're still paying OPEC, Venezuela, and Russia for our oil? Plus we drill alot of ours ourselves. The UN passed 16 resolutions every one calling for military action if not followed. Saddam broke every one of them. EVERY ONE! The UN was too chicken S*** to follow it's own directives. As for your Canadian brothers what did we do? Hold a secret draft in Canada and then kidnap your men to send there? GET A CLUE our government sent them and we couldn't make them do that if we wanted!

Dude get your head out of the sand, oh sorry Canadian, I mean snow.
It isn't like the majority of Americans support the war or even Bush for that matter. Even if they did, how are they going to make Canada participate? Canada does what it wants to. If you don't want to blame your own government for its actions why do you want to blame ours? Most real Americans would prefer Canada have no involvement in this war. It will give us a nice place to go if this reverse draft turns into a full blown draft.

You are either very young, naive, don't read current events
or are mentally disabled!!
Why don't you check into a little history little girl
and find out how many Americans and others were
killed by these people way before 911.
Your government is much wiser than you as they
know that your country is not immune to these killers.
Your little comment to the moron earlier who wanted
to know if the U.S. was going to submit to Haha and Is"lame"
just showed your ignorance as to what is going on in the
world.
The U.S. has enough energy sources to keep us going for
more than 250 years. We don't need their oil, dimwit.
Try knowing what you are talking about before embarrassing
your country with your ignorance.
God Bless the U.S.A. and CANADA!!
As I have many Canadian friends that know the real
reason as to why we are in Iraq.
By the way......I know you probably are clueless....
but why don't you ask your country why they are
the largest exporter or uranium?
Do you know what that is used for??
Look it up little girl......then point the finger!!!

would you feel the same way if you spoke to a person who had his arm chopped off by Saddam???
its all a matter of who you are!
its easy for people to criticize from the outside, while the true victims are wondering if Saddam will ever face justice for his crimes~~~
God Bless
