Brighton! (England, UK)

A real carnival. This is a city with a high gay population and a straight population that is so accustomed to gay people that Pride is more like a carnival for all, put on by the gay community for all, and so we find ( I do anyway) that we are kind of honoured for doing it, by straight people as well as ourselves. It's supported by the council, local businesses, the newspapers, the police and fire service etcetc.
The straight people who watch the carnival parade love it, they are not gawping at us as if we are freaks, they are truly enjoying our culture. There are whole families, children watching, old people and so on. This one really is different and it lasts these days for most of the week building up to the Saturday of the parade and the festival in the park. Good for a holiday too.
By the sea! Beach and pier! Fish and chips and fortune tellers etc etc.. Traditional English seaside place but with a bang up to date attitude. It's in second week in August I think it was. Not sure of exact date.

People say Brighton is the best gay pride city in the UK, never seen a gay pride event myself but will have to go as I bet the atmosphere is electric, good luck and enjoy yourself.

My bro-in-law often goes to Brighton. Maybe worth checking out if you've never been and a cool place to go for a short break to anyway. Lots of shopping, clubs etc.

Bournemouth also had a fun looking Gay Pride event when I lived there. Not sure if they still do it. Perhaps there's a GP website that would help? Or try Gay message boards and ask the same question there?

If you should be coming to North America, try Toronto, Canada's PRIDE event at the end of June. It attracts a million people. This year, the parade also included almost all of City Council and Mayor, many, many gay police officers & partners, teachers, doctors, firefighters, professionals from all walks of life, and of course anybody can be in the parade -- all showing their acceptance and support of the gay lifestyle. It is a very peaceful, fun-filled weekend. And the eye candy is terrific!

my guess would be brighton, as av never been to a gay pride event, but i have been told the streets of brighton are paved with rainbow flagstones and liquid gold, and i wish i could afford to live there. it's bound to be a shangri la compared to the toilet of a city i live in lol.

it has to be Brighton (England), it has a wicked atmosphere, and is very relaxed, with no trouble from the minority that try to spoil it for us, I go there every year without fail, and have always had a great time along with meeting other people that understand, if you get my jist!! The hotels and B&B's are mostly run by gay people, and they are very friendly.
