aspen dreamer, you obviously don't understand what I'm asking, delete your answer, i and the community have no use for such answers. i am not scrimping on anything, i just wondered, i wanted to know if it would harm them, i wasnt going to go out abd buy a 30 square mile habitat, just a little something extra, if i wanted something to fill that need of thiers, i would buy it, and i did, i have chew sticks, and mini houses, i just wanted to add without costing me any money, if you saw a $250,000 super home, and a free one, what one would you get? the free one because its, well, free, they alredy have the super home, i just wanted to add a little varity to thier cage, indtead of throwing it away. its called recycling, it makes them happy, it makes me happy and it makes the earth happy, its a win win win combo, it harms no one, except you, because you think im somehow not giving to thier needs.

the question isnt about the basic requirements, its wether these rolls are safe, or giant killer TP rolls, i just wanted to make sure no harm was done.

are you talking about putting the roll into the cage?

Go riight ahead. The'll love it. And probably end up
chewing at it. But thats okay. Promise you!
I did it with my hampsters and checked on websites.
And they all recomend it acually. And since its not scented
thats even better. Sometimes hampsters are allergic to the
scents.(obviously)

Hope that helps.

Toilet paper & paper towel tubes are perfectly safe to use in you hamster's cage. It gives them new tubes which they will also sometimes chew on. Great improvised toys. :)

Toilet paper itself is also safe to be used occasionally to make nests. I give my hams each a few sheets of non-dusty plain white TP when I clean thier cage, and they make bedding from it for their nests.

Our you asking about the cardboard part of the roll, heck ya give it to them! They love to hide in those things. Eat it? They may shred it for bedding, but unless they are starving would not think they would eat it.....
I wrote out a whole answer for toilet paper itself lol! Used to raise several different kinds of the mini hamsters as well as other rodents.....
Never use newspaper! The ink in newspaper is way bad for critters! Look at your hands after you have read your paper, then think about eating that yuk!

It might constipate the dwarf hamies, the newspaper always worked well for mine, since paper comes from wood, except the printers ink, may not be hampster friendly, I Know rats cut up lottsa newspaper, and shred it to make a bed for their little ones, and for themselves. ask a pet store keeper so you can be sure.

Don't be cheap...
Just go out and buy your pet the proper bedding so it will be soft to lay on and buy him the proper food and treats and things to chew on...
It is an investment to keep hamsters alive and well cared for...
Do not scrimp by using what you can get away with...
Talk to the professionals at your pet store like I did before I bought my hamster...
Give it a clean house once a week and make sure it has plenty of food and water and a wheel to run in...
They are very active at night and need these things to keep them healthy...

i doubt they will eat it, but they use it for bedding and they love the rolls to use as tunnles so let them have fun, however if they get it up to their water bottle it will wick all the water out into their beds.
