Satellites use frequencies in the microwave part of the electromagnetic spectrum. Most telephone relay towers do as well. Anything where large amounts of information have to transmitted without wires. By large, I mean LARGE. Your "wireless" telephone or "wi-fi" network connection doesn't get near the large scale meant by the term.
