I have started doing pranayama but one problem is after taking deep breathe and then exhaling it I feel fatigued soon, as if I am not able to sit and see dark in eyes. I stop doing it for a while and gradually recover. Should I continue pranayama or should I not? may be my body cannot tolerate this?
Another question is have you noticed that pranayama involves deep inhalation and exhalation and usual aerobics like running also give rise to deep and frequent inhalation and exhalation. so are these two (pranayama and aerobics) equivalent? wiil it be ok if I do only one of them and not the other?

I do not know where from you learnt yoga and pranayama. There are very deep things which you should not learn from books and start practising. You must learn it from a competent master. There are certain institutions devoted to teaching of yoga. Bihar School of Yoga is one and they are doing yeomen service in propagation of yoga. It is a deemed university. They have their branches in major cities, in India. They have centres in other countries.

As regards your difficulty in doing pranayama, you cannot bite more than what you cannot chew. You must start and progress gradually. Initially you should not attempt at kumbhaka, breath retention. Measure your breathing with some counts. First depending on your capacity breath in five to eight counts. Then, breath out for equal counts. It should be 1:1. No retention please. You persist with this practice for two weeks. There are variation in this. After some time, you can introduce kummbaka, retention. It should be 1:1:1. The count should be less than what you did without retention, so that you will not feel the strain. Obviously, you are trying to breath in more than your capacity. Ensure that there is synchronisation between breath in and breath out. Pranayama is a panacea for all ills, provided you learn and practise it in the right manner.

Never over exert while doing any exercise.
Start slowly. Increase day by day. U must feel joy during and after. First day ,I also could not do more than 10 kapal bhati pranayam. Slowly Increasing 5 per day now I m doing 600.
There is vast difference between aerobics and yoga.
In aerobics , u spend more than u conserve. That is why though sports persons r well built , their knees give way early & they have lessr life.
