advertizing, and the schooling all creates...a "culture" or way of thinking which makes up a certain "economic climate" ---this climate is what makes it the best for people to buy and sell and not save. This has been devized in order to have global economic stability. America is the buying horse, and kept that way, through neuro-manipulative control through media...creating a sub-culture of thinking of learning facts and applying facts and being told what to do...
In essence, you all become a bunch of ants in an antfarm, with the media director as God..This has also evolved along the same lines in the internet...
a trend is announced and advertizers follow suit...not to mimick the sub-culture...but to create it...MTV CREATES the way the kids think, not mimick the way they think...It TELLS THEM how to act, and what is "cool"
This is associated positively..and therefore assimilated.
This is devised for economic stability. Industrial complex + ad industry control the US.

Yes...economic sector power throughout the world is correlated heavily with media industry influence...
Look at california, it is the strongest economy in the US and like 3rd in the world...and it has the movie industry, the main media industry and trend/fashion industry.
These industries dictate to the masses what to like...and like good SAT learned robots, all americans follow suit....
This is not bad...and is not "orchestrated" by one head designer, its just a theory...that media and ads initiate spending in more than one linear way...a hamburger ad, doesnt JUST SELL the hamburger, it sells a way of acting, a way of dressing, which all come done to the incorprated culture.
Since beaurocracy and transparancy are the most highly valued assets by US goverment...in order to allocate resources (individuals)...the solution was to have A STANDARD EDUCATION...make everyone similar...in order to exchange resources easier...and therefore be more productive economically...

these ideas are fallout from the cold war era....but they are the functional basis for economic functionality in capitalism...tastes, trends, and fads..
Which are dictated, yes...by the media...
its not that surprising, but, a reminder.
and this is not bad or out of the ordinary....
after all, mother nature is the biggest brother of them all, she dictates our desires and we don't even know about it..
is it really control if they tell you what to like?
if your a woman, your most likely to like men (nature's law)....
just the same...if its 4pm in the afternoon and there is a commercial selling hamburgers;....you are likely to become hungry and associate positively....with the hamburger, the way of acting and dressing....which in turn benefits the econoimy,...
nature tells you what to like to preservce the existance of the human species (if mothers did not love their babies the race would not survive for long)...similarly, ads are in place to preserve the global

economy....something the human race has become increasingly....dependent for survival....a global shutdown of the global economy would be devastating for all people's of earth...and therefore a conciousness toward economy and the material has been devceloped to satisfy the purpose of perpetuating the existance of our current civilization, just as nature integrates in us what to like to perpetuate the existance of the species..

answer to all your questions is no.
and communism is bad, and Cuba, unlike what you might suspect, actually has MORE MEDIA brainwashing and actually FORCEFUL brainwashing than an economic capitalist sector such as America...
and unlike America's theirs actually serves no purpose than to keep castro in power.

if someone mispells a word, does that mean that their whole arguement is flawed...
if einstein, before learning english, came to america and tried to explain to you relativity in english and misspelled some words, does that mean he's an idiot?
are you used to the flamboyant demogauge that will convince you of anything as long as he has nicely worded phrases, sparking an expected reaction from you, rather than simply thinking for yourself?

the brainwashing may be better...and it is for economic stability...
but I wondered what people's reactions would be to such outside control, when media is largely perceived, not as a control variable, but rather, just a random factor that happens to influence people's lives...
It is better in economic terms---but maybe there is something deeper to all this "brainwashing" than meets the eye?

kalipapsy....unfortunately...this is what happens when you start having a global economy followed by a media that sets trends and likes....
its based in America...but it will soon most probably adapt to set the cultures for the rest of the world..
It is interesting what you say about ausies developing american accents...this, I beleive is largely because most of world media is from america...and since ausies speak the same language...people who make the ads do not bother to "change" the accent I guess...
I would not be surprised that in the 21st century....instead of media taking whims from cultures on what to display as likes and trends...that media will increasingly DEFINE future culture on Earth.

In fact, I explicitly stated that it was a good thing because it enhanced economic stability....
besides, what global domination would you be refering to? are you suggesting that I am going bezerk and warning everybody of some far leftist plot becusse I am a gay *** democrat...
my friend...I am not your run of the mill la-rouche...or crazy asshole who is for a political party...
The people on the left and on the right are the same asshole to me.
I am simply stating an idea...and I am not being alarmist in any way...I actually SUPPORT this type of controll...I think its good...
there are types of control that are not BAD...as every american seems to think (hmmm..I wonder, got brainwashed by 1984? the book)..
Its not surprising...but look--nature tells you waht to like....is nature bad? no, its necessary for our survival...

thanks for your flattery, thanks for your advice. (if you are sincere).
I don't pay attention to my writting at times. It comes with a frame of mind recently...before I could just type fast and I would write well too. But now, there is a frame of mind that bemuzzles it. Once I read a good book, my mind will automatically correct it. Until then, I guess people will just have to judge my arguments on face value rather than prettiness and presentation...
thanks for your sincerity, sincere people are hard to find these days....(if your sarcastic, still, your perceived intention would be more noble than your intended folly).

yes..I think...but being selective would rule out popular culture...and popular culture defines what is cool..and if you are selective about this than you are not cool...
it depends...if you are independent, you can actually be MORE cool. The average teen is swayed by this way of htinking because he has no way of thinking out of the box....if we had more ways of thinking out of hte box...I think all teens would become more independent.. interesting greek society has that view.
Personally, I have survived being me, but that's because I can bounce easily...if you are not quick or bounce, you have to conform, which, to the average teen, is what the solution is.
and its sad that this is THE ONLY solution this individual has.
But, its good in that it keeps the global economy stable. In fact, as an outsider, I like vieweing the way it plays out...Its kind of something out of a science ficiton novel. Its amusing. I don't give a rats *** either way.

o, when I said "i bounce" it means basically I am not a teen (I am like 26) and that I don't give a rats *** about media...
I am referring to the "macro" level of things....of how the media affects people in mass, not on the individual level...
and bogey...
I never said it was bad or whined about it....in fact, I am comfortable...It was just intriguing to think about .....because Americans seem to be so "adverse" to control...yet when presented with their most obvious control in their country = advertizing and media....
they usually don't associate it with control at all...pop culture is big brother--retro-fitted as cool? would that hinge association...
its very interesting how likes...and mother nature...and neural networks control the bag of chemicals and desires called the human being...
All I am saying is that its amusing...and intriguing....I never said it was bad...it was you, and the rest of the answerers...who seem to think it is bad.

Oh god, it's a rhetorical question! Yes, I know this, and I’ve even seen scenes in movies and media that can have the effect of separating and alienating people from one another, turning the nations’ people against each other, but what can be done about it and what are you going to do about it? If you can answer those questions e-mail me at dj_spin37@hotmail.com, and perhaps we will start a revolution!
P.S. You have an intelligent mind: I can tell that your development may have been retarded some what in the education system, yet you've still been full of deep contemplation and thought; and I can tell you are a very philosophical thinker, proving you have a point, but not everyone is as generous with their opinion as me, so if you want to be taken seriously and listened to, for fcuk sakes…
fix your're grammar and speeling...
leik ok?...
YOU THINK IT'S GOOD? YOU'RE CRAZY
The society as it is now,
a) seperates the people of a nation and possibly the world,
b) ruins or retards progression towards peoples' possible enlightenment, and
c) moves the unsuspecting people away from serenity, making them think rare bursts of joy are a sutible replacement to create unconditional happiness.
P.S.S. I think it's a shame that we live in a world where people's expectations lead true sincerity to an interpretation of possible sarcasm. I am being wholly and completely sincere. :D

Religious sects have almost nil support from Media - yet they are so effective in brainwashing that even sound, strong young guys are willing to lay down their lives at the beck and call of the leader. So no point blaming media which is merely the means, it would be like blaming the sword for the murder.
Isn't UK doing the same ? Isn't every capitalist economy doing the same ? So, no point singling out America. You yourself say mother nature too does brainwashing.
Actually, it is not the brainwasher but rather the gullible brainwashed who is to blame - even he need not be blamed since he is the one who in any case bears the consequence - he has to decide if it is good or bad.

Believe it or not, neither advertizing nor capitalism are evil plots for world domination. I'd say you're making a mountain out of a molehill, but I don't even see the molehill.
And seriously, if you don't like the way things are run here, just try living in a country that doesn't have all the stuff you're criticizing. Somalia, North Korea, Cuba, etc. People have TRIED life without capitalism, materialism, pop culture, advertizing, etc. The results have never been pretty.

You're right.. media influence ppls judgement and action, maybe not as strong as you believe (like after a burger comercial you go eat one), but yes role models are created almost exlusively through media and not only america but in any civilized country. The solution may not be to reject everything the media says.. it's good to know you're been brainwashed but instead of turning off the TV.. just try to be selective..

no matter how you look at it....you are brainwashed. it depends on which detergent you use. i like the american detergent, but i also like the european one too. just be happy that you know that media manipulation exists....and that you have a choice now. you will never escape it.....and people dont really care. because no onee thinks that they are influenced...even when they are told all the tricks of manipulation. people just want to be loved and the media does a great job of making people feel inadequte....so they will feel better by buying the things to feel adequate. we are all suckers, so get used to it......

Yes, yes yes and yes! That was a bit long winded mate, but I agree, and let me give you a new perspective. Ive always believed the human race is being controlled in this way, but Americas influence is suddenly very clear to me. Im in Australia, and weve always had our own culture, a laid back air that doesnt conform to these spending trends and ways of acting. Suddenly John Howard is sitting on Bush's lap, and we are all turning into Americans! Our language is changing, Auzzie slang is being replaced by American words, our laid back lifestyle is gone as Johnny pushes us all to work work work to keep up with the rest of the world, and not just keep up, overtake! I love American culture, I watch mostly American TV, but Im still AUSTRALIAN! I hate hearing the younger generation replace the old slang with something American, and if we cant afford housing, cars, petrol, child care, luxury items and groceries NOW, then what the hell will my kids have to look forward to? Six day weeks? 3 jobs just to make ends meet? never enjoying life? Id rather be childless for life then create more humans to fall victim to this disgusting spending machine!

I can assure you that if they told me to eat rat meat (like they have to in many parts of the world), I would tell them to pound sand...even if they told me it was really cool to do so. You can sell nice stuff...you have a much harder time selling misery and yuck.
