My husband and I have been trying for about 3 months to get pregnant. Every month I see a very regular pattern with my saliva ovulation scope. The fern pattern usualy lasts until about 1-2 days after ovulation and then goes away. This month I have had continued ferning since my ovulation about a week ago. Does the continued pattern of ferns mean im definitely pregnant!!!??? If not, what else could cause it to happen??

Have you also been taking your temperature at waking daily? If not, buy a digital thermometer and before you get out of bed in the morning (right as you wake up), take your temperature. Since you ovulated a week ago, and it sounds like you've been doing some research, how long does it usually take from ovulation to period. That number is a constant. So if you ovulate, and then 15 days later your period shows up, that is the number I'm referring to. In any event, if you were indeed pg, your temperature would remain high (around 98.1) for the next 9 months. If on day 15 (my example for you) your temp goes down to say 97.5, then you will be starting your cycle all over. If your temp remains high for at least 18 days you are pg, and an over the counter test should indicate that. Good luck, 3 months is not a long time to wait--we've been waiting 3 years. :( Hang in there.

The ovulation scope can't determine pregnancy. It is possible that you have ovulated more than once this month, and this is why the ferning is lasting so long. It happens occasionally.

If you think you may be pregnant, get a home pregnancy test to verify that. And best of luck in getting pregnant! :)

I have heard that excess saliva can be a sign of pregnancy. The best way to know is to wait until your period is supposed to start and if it doesn't, then take a test. First Response is a good test to use. Good luck!
