I think the limitation is in our life form. We perceive three dimensions and live in the fourth dimension namely time. There can be another view of this same universe, where some organisms may perceive four dimensions, (the fourth one need not be time), and live in the fifth dimension.

You know you have 3 dimensions.
Length width and height. These are at right angles to eachother. Actually you can have more than 5 dimensions. In 2 dimensional space you need 2 sets of numbers to represent a point. In 3 dimensional space you need 3. These are commonly called the x, y and z axis. In 4 dimensional space you have 4 axises. In your case the fourth dimension is representing time. Lets say you throw a ball at a catcher. As time increases then obviously the ball gets closer and closer to the catcher until he catches it and the position in 3 dimensional space changes as the fourth dimension ticks on. What would the fifth dimension represent? It's best to have a good understanding of space-time. If you stick to basic concept of space time everything that was set in motion since the beginning of time is just going to be cause and effect. Remember if you're ever time traveling NEVER MESS WITH CAUSALITY. Perhaps the fifth dimension could represent different possible outcomes to our own space time. There is more thats going on in our universe than what we can observe with our bodies. Some people theorize that gravity can infact interact with objects in extra dimensional space. Extra dimensional space is often used to explain stuff we don't fully understand yet.

I don't understand "dimension" after the third. Seems Einstein is the one who figured out there were 11 dimensions?

There are probably 11 or so additional dimensions but the rest are so tightly rolled up that they are never experienced in our human existence. That is not to say that they are not critically important to our understanding of the universe.

If I remember correctly there are only four dimensions. if there is a fifth dimension, I don't think it has been proven.

A space telescope scheduled for launch in 2007 will be sensitive enough to detect theoretical miniature black holes lurking within our solar system, scientists say.

By doing so, it could test an exotic five-dimensional theory of gravity that competes with Albert Einstein's General Theory of Relativity. That is, of course, if the tiny black holes actually exist
