THERE IS A GREEN LIGHT ON THE AC ADAPTER THAT IS ON WHEN ITS PLUGGED IN THE POWER OUTLET BUT APARENTLY THE LAPTOP DOESNT START WHEN I HAVE THE ADAPTER PLUGGED IN THE LAPTOP, NEED HELP

i took out the battery , plugged the adapter and there is no power, tried to jiggle the wire but nothing, i still have some juice in the battery so i took it out just so i can transfer some of my important files when i need to.

It could be a bad power supply

Does the connector from the AC adapter fit snugly into the laptop? Does it get any temporary connection if you wiggle it? I assume the battery doesn't charge? With repeated use that connection can get damaged. A new AC adapter might work fine; if it's the laptop power port, you might need to replace the whole motherboard.

It could also be the built in power connection to the computer. Try plugging it in, take out the battery, then trying to turn it on. If it works, it may be your battery. Otherwise it may be the power connection or ac adapter.

If all the answers above have failed, take your computer to the nearest Compaq/HP or other trusted repair shop. Get a recommendation from them as well as getting the adapter/power connectors fixed

My laptop wouldn't turn on with the power supple or battery. I was told to unplug it and remove the battery for 15 min, then to try plug it in and try to turn it on. It resets something in the computer and it worked worked fine after that.
