Carys is a Welsh Christian (or given) name ... Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas named their daughter "Carys" and the lead singer with Catatonia was Carys Matthews. Tanni Grey Thompson the paraOlympian has a daughter called Carys too.
The name is pronounced "Kerris"

I've heard it before, but it doesn't seem to be terribly popular. That's what Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas named their child, right? Anyway, it's a Welsh name. It comes from the Welsh word for "love" I believe.

No its not unusual, I have two friends called Carys, it is a welsh name. I think its a really nice name. Not so keen on Jenna though.

I have heard of it spelt both ways although I prefer it with a K. I believe it is Welsh in origin.
