What do those who are awarded the Nobel prize do with their million dollar prize money. Do they put it toward their research or do they usually toss it into a high interest savings account?

I lost all of my Nobel prize money in a game of dice.

The only one I know for sure is Richard Feynman, who won the Nobel Prize in physics many years ago. He bought a house with some of his award money.

Amended: I recall that Mother Teresa, when she won the Peace Prize, used all of her prize money for her charitable concerns.

I think it depends on the person. There's no requirement as to what they do with the money, so it's up to them.

Mostly they give back to labs where they work. It is ethical principle as a researcher.
