They're not. Reproduction is one of the basic elements of life, along with breathing and using the bathroom. Cats reproduce, platypi reproduce, cows reproduce; you're not special just because you've added another moron to the population.

"Miracle" is defined as an "event that appears to be contrary to the laws of nature," or "an event or action that is amazing, extraordinary, or unexpected." Millions of new organisms are born every day. Birth is not contrary to the laws of nature or extraordinary. Babies are not gifts, they're just smelly, screaming annoyances.

A baby is no more a miracle than eating food and a turd popping out of youre asss.

You know what a miracle is, a miracle is raising a child that doesnt talk in a movie theatre , thats a miracle.

I sure hope that you've had your tubes tied.

People shouldn't have babies (i.e. use birth control), unless they do think that the process of their own reproduction is culminated in their own Little Miracle. They should be awed by the responsibility of parenthood.

There are too many children who aren't wanted or even who are, but their parents cannot even take care of themselves.

Actually, all reproduction is miraculous because
even the simplest-seeming life forms are individuals. If you can't see the differences between snow flakes at least some of the time and wonder at the miracle of life, then your life is not a miracle, you're hardly even a spectator, let alone a participant. But, hey,
what can we expect from just another moron?

we're genetically PROGRAMMED to think of babies as miracles and gifts, lest we "betray" the genes, and stop having 'em. even i, a dyed in the wool misanthropist, can't help but love babies (in limited doses); it's hardwired into us. no semantic tomfoolery'll get you out of it. people find babies, "amazing" - one of your definitions of a miracle. i find it amazing that people go through all the madness they do, for 'em, so that's amazing, in itself.

I think it's human nature to personalise everything, just the ego. I agree with you, it's basic biology.
