is the 13th floor then left vacant? or does the numbering continue in sequence except that "13" is omitted? What's the logic behind it?

buildings do have a 13th floor, but it's reserved for the minions of Hell.

The number 13 is omitted because of superstition. There isn't a number "13" room in emergency rooms either.

thirteen is suposed to be the devil's number in some religious aspect... so that number is omitted deliberately as an omen.

Most resteraunts that you work at wont have a table 13 as well.
