Many countries have tales / movies and pictures about Mermaid.. It is just legendary creature or real existing/existed on this world? I once saw (in net) a series of pics of dead Mermaid, near a beach (with human head and fish tail). I am not sure the pics are fakes or not.

I've always beleived in the existance of mermaids...I don't know why ..may be because it exists in many cultures and i think every myth or legend has a true origin...or may be coz i can't believe that the water area on planet earth is much larger than the land and no intelligent creatures live in it. However, I think that the pics on the internet are all fake. My mother tells me that a husband of her friend who adores fishing swears that he saw a mermaid before while he was fishing deep in the sea...but I am not sure if he's making this up or not.

however the myths do have a basis. if you are way from human noise for a few days your brain starts to make voice like sounds up out of white sound sources like ocean beach waves and trees in the wind. These mirage type voices are the source of the myths of the little people, the Windigo, the Lorelei and many other mythological types of human like creatures around the world. The myths always carry a warning to ignore the voices in case they lead you away and get you lost. The voices are always very sweet and enchanting but in a language that is not understandable. This is not mental illness that I am talking about but a normal feature of human brain nervous systems. Nobody in todays world is ever out of human earshot long enough to experience the effect. A babbling brook is a good enough white noise source to have spawned a special myth referred to as the water babies.

Just say a mermaid when I left Atlantis for the United States.

If you travel 300 miles below the ocean floor you will see lots of mermaids and mermen!

There is a large population!

I have a friend in LA that makes mermaid bodys out of real skeletons of fish and other small animals and uses human hair. They look incredible and very real and each one has a story to it. He then sells them to oddity collectors as real mermaids. I think mermaids might have been around at one time, but I think its more likely hallucinations by sailors that had scurvy or swallowed too much sea water....

I highly doubt that mer-people exist, and those pictures could be computer generated since there are a lot of good artists out there...
