Yes generally in the English language.
However, philosophically, since everyone can not be selfish nor selfless at the same time, they are not black and white. Consider this. A selfless act could well be a higher order of selfishness, i.e. by being selfless, one may be looking for having something more important such as goodwill of the people or social approval or spiritual satisfaction etc. Similarly a selfish act could often end up in lowering the self or sacrificing self-respect.

not really in definition. selfless is really a lack of ego, but can still allow for one to concern himself only with own affairs or needs.
EX: Some hindu sanyasin run around naked and beg, They are selfless ( without a "self") but neverthe less are very selfish to mooch off others. They do not do good deeds or help others as an unselfish person would do ( the true antonym of selfish)

Closure is the key word here. If the husband and wife love eachother, they must understand you can't just move on until u know the corpse is actually dead and gone forever. Knowing that there have been miracles, and talking to the person in bed at the hospital help, also helps give closure to the wife and kids...they will feel that they did all they could and all they wanted to do before the natural end of life. I would have to say that leaving the family secure is sensible, but how comfortable are you really going to be if you have depression and guilt from not being there as much as you could have been until the TOD came???I'd be a mess personally. And money wouldn't matter to me much. Yes it would add to the stree, but when you are depressed, you could give two shits about anything.

G'day Samlyn Josfyn,
Thank you for your question.
You are correct.
Antonyms, from the Greek anti ("opposite") and onoma ("name") are word pairs that are opposite in meaning, such as hot and cold, obese and skinny, and up and down. Words may have different antonyms, depending on the meaning. Both long and tall are antonyms of short. Antonyms are of four types:
* Gradable antonyms are two ends of the spectrum (slow and fast) but can have variations.
* Complementary antonyms are pairs that express absolute opposites, like mortal and immortal.
* Relational antonyms are pairs in which one describes a relationship between two objects and the other describes the same relationship when the two objects are reversed, such as parent and child, teacher and student, or buy and sell.
* Auto-antonyms are the same words that can mean the opposite of themselves under different contexts or having separate definitions
* enjoin (to prohibit, issue injunction; to order, command)
* fast (moving quickly; fixed firmly in place)
* cleave (to split; to adhere)
* sanction (punishment, prohibition ; permission)
*stay (remain in a specific place, postpone; guide direction, movement)
Although the word antonym was only coined by philologists in the 19th century, such relationships are a fundamental part of a language, in contrast to synonyms, which are a result of history and drawing of fine distinctions, or homonyms, which are mostly etymological accidents or coincidences.
I attach sources for your reference.

Selfish is when a person only thinks of themself, and their wants and needs. Selfless is when a person puts other's needs/desires before their own. I hope this helps you!

it is not correct.
selfish is the feeling of 'mine' is that everything to be of that person only without sharing.
selfless is the feeling of 'mine' which does not react to anything.
hence, selfish is closely associated selfless.
