I would love to, it would probably keep me standing a lot taller! And I would be sexy with that curved waist and big fluf in the tush!
I love that look, I wish I could do it everyday.

You should look around...corsets and such have been making a significant resurgence in the last decade. Particularly for club and formal wear. Whichever rock the whole tank top and flip-flops equals formal wear came from, it needs to be put back...HARD. Little by little, it is. People are returning to more formal, and in a lot of cases, more structured, figure conscious and enhancing clothing.
If you think cleavage is a bad thing, you obviously have no interest in what guys think. If you think they're going to crack ribs or leave you fainting every 5 minutes, it's glaringly obvious you've never worn one, or at least one that's not some cheap reinforced bustier.
If you ever want to drop jaws left and right, get yourself a well fitted (don't even *think* Fredericks or VS) made-to-measure corset.
Take a look at what's available:

Sorry kids, but uggs and a maternity top will get you treated like chopped liver if you're standing next to a girl in a corset, dressed to the nines.

I wear Elizabethan attire (1570's), with corset (stays) and hoops (farthingale), to Renaissance faires. While they're actually far more comfortable than they look, and very practical for that time period, given the climate, when you try to wear them and interact with modern things (armchairs, cars, bathrooms), it gets a little cumbersome. My 90" circ. hoops are small enough that I can wear them in the car, but it's very difficult to sit in the car seat without either loosening my corset (which means I have to unfasten or remove my overgown), or removing the corset busk. 17th c. panniers/pocket hoops would be extremely difficult to wear into a car....
Bathrooms, unless they're handicapped-accessible, are very awkward with hoops.
The corset is an advantage when wearing that much fabric (it helps support the weight of the dress, keeping it from feeling as heavy), but it does restrict your movement some. Practice your ballet moves; to pick something up, you will have to do knee-bends (or ask your gallant gentleman); you cannot bend at the waist.
Remember, good servants are hard to find these days; most of the fashion we see from "ye olden days" was from the upper classes- it was a status symbol to have your woman wear restrictive clothes, as it indicated she did not have to work, and she had servants to attend her.
In short, they're great for special occasions, but it does take some planning...

Well I'm not a gut if you meant that gender but I have always wanted to wear a dress like that, even the ones with the hoops how cool was that(no tin the summer with out a/c though
I think back in those days you had to have MONEY to be dressed the way we see on T.V.
Don't really know but yeah it is something I would love to do!!!!!!!!
Great Question I always mention it to my boyfriend when we see those dresses.
(oh by the way I'm 48yrs old so I'm a bit corny I guess)

If you've never worn it before, how can you possibly have an appreciation of what its like to get into those things?
If you're already slender and the trendy fashionable ideal, its really a big hassle and quite uncomfortable.
But if you're frumpy and out of shape, . . . Uncomfortable is a HUGE understatement. You'd be totally miserable.
I have worn those horrible things, both the accesories and the entire costume, as an extra for theater productions, its horrible!!!
No,... it would not be a good idea.

If fainting, having shortness of breath, cracked ribs, and cleavage that covers the neck is the latest health trend, then yeah, bring on the corsets!!!
As for petticoats, i could just jam an umbrella under my skirt, thank you very much...

I mean, I would like to try one, but we should definitely NOT bring them back. They take a long time to put on, are uncomfortable, and are hard to wear. Even thou these dresses give impressions of beauty and class, they are way too troublesome... especially in this day and age

its good to have fun playing dressup. Maybe since halloween is near you can make a costume. HOwever for everyday wear, I think it would be impractical.
