Additional info as promised: I must say that my knowledge stems from being Hispanic. I have never heard some of these responses, like the "hand gesture" or like wearing the color blue. I have heard of using a red ribbon, El "Ojo del Venado", touching the person, also the sign of the cross. My husband has Yellow & Blue (=green) eyes he has had Ojo many times. I have a son who is always getting "envious" coments in how cute, beautiful he is. Luckly we live in highly hispanic region so the people around here know to touch him immediately. He has yet to get Ojo thank goodness. I do believe in GOD, I also think that Ojo is something that people unintentionally transmit; the power of the mind is yet to be discovered/understood. I also believe another way to prevent Ojo is by preforming the sign of the cross on my son has helped to prevent Ojo. I usually do this before going out or when someone does not touch him. I just remembered one more My mom used to do this to us when we had fever or had ojo, she used to get an egg still in its shell and rubb it on our head, torso, legs, front and back making little crosses and reciting a prayer : The Our Father, I think anything will do. it is believed that the egg absorbs the Fever or Evil that the body has absorbed. Crack the egg into a glass (do it at an angle as to not break the yolk) then put the glass under the bed where that person sleeps. It is believed that the egg yolk will be stained with blood or have some type of black makrings (not sure on that).
Evil eye is believed to happen when someone is envious of someone Else's looks, eyes, beauty. When someone admires you and confronts you with what they notice about you, you are supposed to ask to be touched. Touching someone is believed to relieve the persons anxiousness over what they are envious of. Symptoms usually occur within a few hours you start to feel bad, nausea, head ache, cold sweat...

I do believe it is superstition but I also live in Greece where the evil eye is a pretty big deal. I can tell you what they do here, they wear the symbol of a blue eye as a necklace or bracelet or have it on a key chain..Sometimes you have to ask someone to remove the evil eye for you. You could try posting this in the greek section and ask if anyone knows about "ksematiasma" (removing evil eye).

The actual counter to the 'Evil Eye' is a hand sign, not known by many. I believe it's origin lies with that of the 'Evil Eye' itself. The hand sign is called the 'Fig' (no, not like the fig off of a fig tree). The sign is made by pushing the thumb between the index and middle finger. Now push forward and up in the direction the 'Evil Eye' is coming from. This is supposed to counter or send back the negative energy. It sort of looks like you're flipping someone off with your thumb, huh? But that's the 'counter' you asked for. Hope it works, good luck!

don't be there, all lust or resentments may look strange to be viewing in a persons face (assuming) is questionable and no two looks are the same, unless it a head game, and it's all head games=(content & intent)? but they all look like the convey the same message with out speech to go with it and a mind that can explain your assessments of what you perceive..the myth that you can sense something does evaluate its beholder in your eyes,or they may be returning what they sense too!or denial, or defending against rejection all parent bring thier offspring individuals in to the same lock-step-world, most are living locked up in erjections that have nothing to do with you

Glad you asked this question.
Buy a glass 'evil eye' from a Turkish shop. It is to WARD OFF this exact curse. Anyone who is Turkish will know about this, as it is everywhere there.
Here is an example.

If you know celebreties who study Kabbalah; Madonna, Demi Moore, and me [not a celebrity] the red string is a symbol of understanding protection from the evil eye. It is usually one of the first kabbalah pretenses that a person today is introduced to and to learn more visit
If you are familiar with hebrew letters, the three letter-name of protection from evil eye is r;ALEPH. mid;LAMED. left;DALETH. Read and written from right to left.

The evil eye concept is totally a made up thing by man. It has never really existed and it never will exist. So the next time someone tries to give you the evil eye poke your finger into that eye and you will see a power-less person cry for that is all that the evil eye can do.................................

In all seriousness, go to a craft store and buy a small mirror, and carry it with you. You will reflect any negativity sent your way.
