polymerization took place due to the catenation property (i.e. tendency to form long chains) of elements,,,,,,,,,, for example carbon have great tendency to form long chains hence many of the polymers contains carbon as basic element

polymerization depend on material. when we are going to make a fibre, we use some polymer like ethylene, phenol etc. and then different double bond open for making bond between a polymer to another polymer and polymerisation occur. if u want more contact me.
