Interesting question, I believe it is to some extent. Especially with all the drug companies trying to sell their so-called non-addictive sleeping pills, such as: Ambien CR, Lunesta, and others. I see the commercials all the time for free trials - its ridiculous..
For someone who is actually bi-polar, in their manic states, they feel like they don't need sleep or they just can't sleep. Now, that's a real problem.
They say you don't even need 8 hours of sleep every night, and be just as healthy and productive during the day as someone who gets 8 hrs every night.
I have chronic insomnia at times ..I don't know yet what causes it. So for me, I'd prefer getting a good night as opposed to tossing and turning all night.

Nooooo! Sleep, especially a good comfortable deep sleep, maybe while it's raining and a nice breeze is blowing through the window, is wonderful.

No, without sleep we cannot function and slowly go insane. Sleep rejuvenates us for the next day refreshing all parts of our bodies. I love to sleep on a rainy day.

No way. Your body simply cannot function without sleep. Kudos to those who can survive on a few hours of sleep with no problems.

no, not at all, our brains and bodies need sleep. And if you go too long without getting quality sleep you can slip into psychosis

No, but it sucks! I had to stay up late because I had to fry this big giant steak. It's done now, but I'm still awake, thinking up another excuse to stay up later, lol.
