He became famous outside Hawaiʻi when his album Facing Future was released in 1993 with his medley of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow"

His name is Israel Kamakawiwo Ole' and it is a fabulous version not only of the song "Somewhere Over The Rainbow", but also a little portion of "Wonderful World: mixed in, too.
